Gorakshasana-Yogi Gorakhnath’s Pose

Guru Gorakshanath, a famous Yogi did Yog sadhana in this asana. Therefore, the name of this asana is Goraksh Asan.

Technique:

Sit comfortably on a blanket or carpet. Bend both the legs at the knee joints. Now bring together heels and toes of both your legs. Then slowly bring both heels at the perineum. Hold both the feet by joining the fingers of both your hands in such a way that palm of one hand would lie on the palm of the other hand. The thumbs of both hands should lie on the toes of both legs. Now inhale and fill the lungs fully with air and keep the waist straight. Press both knees to the ground. In the beginning you can practise this by keeping your hands on the knees and pressing them to the ground. You should sit comfortably as long as you can holding your breath. In the end breathe out slowly, open out the legs and relax the whole body. Take a normal breath and relax comfortably.

Note:

Obese people and those who have heart disease should not practise this asana.

Benefits:

The sex glands are given exercise and the retention of semen is made possible by this asana. This is beneficial in disease of wet-dreams and disorders related to bladder and menstruation. It is eases the waist pains.
