Chakrasana-Wheel Pose

Chakrasana-Wheel PoseThe Sanskrit word “Chakra” means a wheel. During this asana the shape of the body resembles the shape of a wheel. Therefore, this asana is called Chakrasana.

Technique :

Lie on your back on a carpet or blanket. Bend both your legs at the knee, bring the heels close to the buttocks. They should atleast be two feet apart. Raise both the arms, take them backwards and bend them at the elbow joints and wrists, put the palm on the ground. Now raise the waist a little. Bend the knees forward. Place the head on the ground, take it back. Now bring both your hands towards the head. Put the palms on the ground. Now raise the waist and back. Balance the weight of the body on the legs. Balancing the body on your hands and feet, make the body look like a wheel and hang the neck downwards. Stretch the stomach and chest as much as possible. Come to the final stage. Hold on comfortably for 2 to 4 seconds. This is enough in the beginning. Increase the time gradually.

Benefits :
The bones of the spinal column become strong and flexible by Chakrasana. Stiffness of the spinal column is the sign of old age and flexibility is the sign you youthfulness. By doing Chakrasanaa, old age is delayed. Back ache is relieved and disorders of the chest and stomach are set right. It is beneficial in case of headache. Palms, calfmuscles, knees, things, waist, back, stomach, arms, wrist and other parts of the body become strong.
