During this asana, the body assumes the opposite shape of the Paschimottasana. Therefore, this asana is called Purvottanasana.
Technique :
Lie on your back on a carpet or blanket. Then come slowly to the stage of Halasana. Stretch your legs. Keep the knees straight. Now hold the right toes with the right hand and the left toes with the left hand. Draw the legs towards the head and by placing the chin on the chest and come to the final stage. If you wish, you may not hold your toes.

The practice of this asana, has all the advantage of Halasana. The neck, chest and shoulders become flexible and strong. Diseases of the throat, lungs are relieved. The heart is strengthened. The brain becomes alert. This asana delays the onset of old age.
