In this asana, the body becomes like a palm tree. Therefore, this asana is called Tadasan. “Tada” in Sanskrit means ‘a palm tree’.
Technique :
Stand erect on a carpet or blanket. Your legs, waist, back, neck all should be in a straight line. In the beginning, if you wish you can practice this with the help of a wall. Stand with your back against the wall. Your heels, buttocks, back and the back of the head should be touching the wall. After 5 or 6 days of practice, do it without the support of the wall.
Stand absolutely straight. Lift your hands slowly upwards after inhaling. Let your palms face forward Retain your breath, stand on your toes and stretch your body. This is the final stage of this asana. Remain comfortably as long as possible. Exhale and stand comfortably on your heels.
Benefits:
Tadason increases your height. The verbetral column and the heart are strengthened. The chest expands. The lungs become flexible. Heart diseases do not occur. Constipation and indigestion are cured. Heaviness of the stomach is cured and unnecessary fat is reduced. It strengthens arms and legs. It helps to remove lethargy. Tadasana must be done for some time after Shirshasana.
