The Sanskrit word “Simha” means ‘lion’. In this asana, the body takes on the form of a lion. Therefore, this asana is called Simhasana.
Technique I:
Sit on a blanket in Vajrasana. Spread the fingers and put your palms on your knees. Put your tongue as far out as possible. Open your eyes as wide as you can. This is the final stage of this asana.
Technique II:
Sit in the position of Vajrasana facing the rising sun. Place both your palms on the ground on either side. Bend your waist a little forward, raise the neck a little upwards. Open your mouth, put your tongue as far out as possible and let it hang. Breathe through the nostrils and hold your breath. Hold this position as long as possible. This is the final position of the second method of the Simhasana. It is enough to repeat this asana once or twice in the beginning. Gradually you can repeat this up to 7 times.
Benefits:
The diseases of nose, ear and throat are cured by Simhasana. It is very beneficial in cases of tonsillitis, the throat gets good exercise. The calf muscles, knees and fingers also become strong.
