The Sanskrit word “Skandha” means “shoulder” and the word “Pada” means “foot”. In this asana, one foot is raised and kept on the shoulder. Therefore this asana is called Ekapada-Skandhapadasan.
Technique:
Stretch your legs forward, as you sit on a blanket or carpet. Bend the right leg a little at the knee and raise it slowly above the shoulder, place it on the neck behind your head. Now join your hands as if in salutation and come to the final stage. Stay in this position, as long as you can maintain it comfortably. Return slowly and then relax. Repeat it using legs alternatively.
