Sukhasana - Easy Pose

sukhasana - easyposeThe simple meaning of Sukhasana is to sit comfortably. In this asana, we just sit comfortably. Therefore, this asana is named Sukhasan.One can say that Sukhasana is the pathway to all Yogasanas. This is very easy Asan. But even for this practice is essential.

Technique:

Sit comfortably on a blanket or carpet. Bend both your knees. You can sit in any position you feel comfortable. The only thing you must remember is that your waist, back and neck should be straight in one line. The body should not be bent. The spinal column should be straight. Keep your hands as you feel comfortable.

In foreign countries and even in our country, people who work or eat or pray sitting on chairs, find it difficult to sit on the ground bending knees. They should go about this asana slowly especially in the beginning. Then alone can they comfortably do Sukhasan.

There is another technique for Sukhasan. Bend both the knees and keep the legs vertical. The left foot should be kept towards the right side and the right foot towards the left side. Hold both the knees with both your hands and catch hold of the wrist of one hand by the other.

If you like, you can tie your knees or waist with a towel. Your hands would then remain free.

People living in villages bind their waist and knees whenever they sit for a long time in a village assembly.There are 3 advantages in this kind of sitting.
