Dhruvasana

A great devotee of God, Dhruva used to practise, penance standing in this asana. Hencea this is called Dhruvasana.

Technique:

Stand erect on a carpet or blanket. Keep both the ankles and knees together. Keep the backside of the head, back, buttocks and the heels in a vertical line. Bend the left leg at the knee, pull the foot of this leg towards the base of the right thigh. Join the palms and come to the final position. Maintain this position as long as you possibly can. Breathe normally.

Benefits:

Persons who practise Dhruvasana do not remain lazy. This is a very important asana for doing Japa. (repetition of the holy name of God).
