Gomukhasana - Cow’s Face PoseThe Sanskrit word “Gomukha” means the “mouth of the cow”. In this asana the bent knees look like the mouth of a cow. Therefore the name Gomukhasana.

Technique:
Sit on a blanket or carpet. Bend the left leg at the knee. Place the left heel below the right buttock. Now bend the right leg at the knee and place it on the bent left leg in such a way that the right and left knees are placed one above the other. The heel of the right leg and toes
should lie near the left buttock. Now take the right hand towards the back over the shoulder and take the left hand towards the back through the side. Now hold both hands with fingers inter locked. Keep your head supported with the right elbow. Then sit straight. Look forward. This is the final stage of this asana. By alternating the legs and hands, this asana can be practised three times at one sitting.

Benefits:
Pain in the back and neck subsides by the practice of Gomukhasan. This asana helps cure diseases like diabetes, semen debility and leucorrhea of both males and females. The veins of hands and arms become flexible and healthy. It is also advantageous for people with high and low blood pressure, hernia and hunch-back.
