Bhujangasana - Cobra PoseThe Sanskrit word “Bhujang” means “snake”. In this asana, the body takes on the shape of a snake with its hood spread-out. So the name of this asana is Bhujangasana. This is also called Sarpasana and Nagasana.

Technique:

Lie flat on your stomach on a carpet or blanket. Straighten your legs, if our big toes should be adjacent to each other and other should be spread out. Soles should face towards the sky. Place your palms next to your chest. Arms and elbows should touch your sides. Keep the chin firmly on the ground.

Now raise your head a little. Inhale and raise the chest and back up to the navel and bend the head backwards. This is the final position of this asana. Kemember that only the area above the navel region is to be raised. Now hold your breath comfortably as long as possible. Take the support of your hand and arms but do not take all the weight of the body on them. Keep the gaze on the ceiling or the sky. Now inhale and return slowly to the first position. First the chest, then the head, then the chin should touch the ground. Relax comfortably. In the beginning, it is enough to retain the final position for 2 to 4 seconds. The time can be increased slowly. In the beginning you can do it 2 or 3 times and gradually do it 7 times.
