Ushtrasana - Camel Pose

ushtrasana- camelPoseThe Sanskrit word “Ushtra” means “camel”. In this asana, the shape of the neck assumes of the shape of a Camel. Therefore, this asana is called Ushtrasana.

Technique:

Sit in Vajrasana on a blanket or carpet. Raise yourself on to your knees. Keep ankles and knees a little apart. Now keep your hands on the waist in such a way that your thumbs press the lower part of your back. Now bend the waist, back and neck backwards, hold the ankles with your hands. Push up the chest so that your body assumes the shape of a bow. This is the final stage of this asana. You can keep your hands on the lower part of the feet instead of keeping on the ankles or on the ground. Breathe normally. After holding this position for a little while, return to the first position.
